The Zen of Cantaloupe

Theres a therapeutic benefit to cutting a cantaloupe which requires your full and utter attention. It's the zen of cantaloupe and can be an exercise in being in the-now combined with a good focus on your breathing will maximize the love in your mind and body. Lord knows using a sharp cutlery is a good enough reason for pure zen like concentration.

Health benefits are as follows: provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support. It also reduces cancer risk. cantaloupe is an excellent provider of vitamin A and C providing the daily suggested amount. This puppy can help you look younger and honey who can't use a little of that. The vitamins and nutrients this orange flesh provides boost the immune system, thereby preventing colds and other viral infections.

Also this fruit contains a range of phytonutrients. Phytonutrients is a Greek word for plant. These chemicals help protect plants from germs, fungi, bugs and other threats. Fruits and vegetables contain phytonutrients. Phytonutrients which have anti-inflammatory properties. It helps joints and muscles throughout the body. Thus-warding off cardiovascular disease and the ugly monster arthritis. 

So push away the bowl of dead cereal and eat some cantaloup which will also add positive energy to help your eye's and skin

Don't Change Your Nature

A very old man used to meditate early every morning under a large tree on the bank of the Ganges River in India. One morning he saw a scorpion flailing helplessly in the strong current of the river, tangled in a complex network of tree roots.

The old man immediately reached out to rescue the drowning scorpion.
The panicked animal tried to sting him, but the man persisted. For several long minutes his hand darted back and forth, evading the scorpion's deadly stinger as he tried to rescue it.

A passerby saw the struggle and called out. "Hey, old man, what's wrong with you? You're going to get yourself killed. Just let it go".

The man sat back and looked calmly into the stranger's eyes. "Friend, " he said. "It is the nature of the scorpion to sting. It is my nature to save the helpless. I do not expect him to change his nature to suit me. Nor will I change my nature to suit him".

It is a confident person who stays true to their own nature when being pressured to change.

We are teaching ourselves to accept only good….. We are deliberately compelling ourselves to accept all love, all kindness, all hope, all joy, all expansion, all abundance and all health, all vigor.

We are deliberately compelling ourselves to reject all suffering, all sorrow, all depression, all morbidness, all inferiority, all aches and pains.

We are saying nothing is true but the great and the good and the beautiful, only these will we add unto ourselves.

My Most Beautiful Day

I opened my mailbox and found a check for a small sum of money. I’m tickled.

I walked onto my yard and picked a fresh grown orange which I pealed and chewed. Each bite bursting orange flooded my mouth with sensation of pride.

I picked a Myers lemon off my tree and cut a slice of yellow into my glass of filtered water. I cut two pieces of the sliced lemon now floating on top of my H20.

I’ll take my water into my Zen room where incense is burning a candle is lit.

Here I’ll gong three times my Tibetan bowl, as I slip into meditation and prayer for this my most beautiful day.

Okay folks, off the cuff here is some insight for 1/11/2013

(the draft below was taken from a personal email to a couple of friends)

111 you have the holy trinity. Father-Mother-Holy Spirit. This triangle has been bona fide as the laboratory for creation for eons.

Then there's 1/11 in math all equations create different out comes or conclusions. 1/11 has two dynamics going on. 1 is the mother of invention. Here in the brilliant light of love a spear head of mind and ideas goes from just swirling around in the human head, to become the mortar of high rises and great bridges or the light bulb to illuminate the ages.

The 11 is complex insofar as it's high intelligences. So magic is in the air which conspires to organize outrageous concept. But brave enough to bring it all into one fabulous solution and outcome. Oh how 11 loves to show off it's capabilities.

Now frankly 1/11 is not alone today. 1/11/2013 is our wholesome date. Therefore 1+11+6 is at hand. 6 is love, home, family. It's the best Human Resources Boss one could wish for (pardon the 1 could wish for pun)

Last but not least 1+11+2013=9

9 is my all time favorite number. It's the god, the good, the top of  the mountain of teachers and students. It's super spiritual and kind while being very whimsical. 9 is the bomb of love.

Now bring this all together for Dave's mindfulness celebration and you now have a concentrated mass consciousness on plant earth! 1/11

I went to donate blood

 It was late in 1998, I managed a sales team in Newport Beach, in sales and advertising of luxury boats and yachts. I took the afternoon off work to donate blood at the Red Cross.

Half way through my nerve racked donation, the queen asked "So are you gay"? I Thought "oh lord he's gonna hit on me" I replied "yes". Oh (hands on hip)" well I'm sorry but you can't give blood." I asked "why the hell not? I continued,  I'm perfectly healthy" He went on "have you had sex with a man any time between 1977 and now"? "Yes" I responded (with a bit of an attitude )however, I've been tested and with my partner for seven years". He responded "Sorry no can do".

I walked out of the Red Cross feeling very cross and insulted. What, because I was a gay person, my blood was expected to be a hazard. I was just healing from almost 10 years of my close friends being killed off from this monster AIDS and a nation suffered under the dark cloud of the AIDS epidemic.

Fast forward 2012.
For some strange impression I thought I'd listened to or watched a program informing me the FDA had dispelled of it's old rule and now was eager to obtain the additional blood from any good person, including gay men. Now I could help---I thought.

A hospital in Long Beach was in serious need of blood, to the point of offering $25.00 coupons for oil changes. ( I own a luxury car and didn't need their coupon) I moved things around and called to make sure I'd have everything I needed to help. I went in and sat down, only to learn after reading the "We cant take your blood if", if you had sex with another man in 1977-2012 you're not allowed to give your fabulous blood now.

 I walked out of Long Beach Memorial Hospital with the same queer feeling I had 14 years ago. And all I would have to say for them to accept my blood is "oh ya I am straight" and my gift of my awesome blood would be there to help another human being live. Maybe next year I can help?

Deep within your soul is a swirling pool of bubbles lifting upward toward your reality. Each bubble is a thought or vision you keep allowing to think over and over again.
To increase the quality of these rising bubbles take time everyday to be still and be aware of your breath. Each day you make time to meditate on your rising and falling breath you'll increase the good fortune on the emerging bubble and therefore will create more good vibrations in your everyday life and times

Was on my way home and was concerned I'd not eaten all day. I still had one or two things to do...WHAT TO DO? Then it hit me. What about that little place which is located in the little yellow house on, the one way side of 3rd and Alamitos Avenue, here in LB?

So I took a chance and bam. I had a fabulous vegan meal. So when in the LBC (Long Beach Community) check out this cute little yellow house where cute people and delicious food come together.

My goal is to reduce the amount of confusion and suffering any one person goes through and replaces it with a clarity and inspiration. By doing so, I believe we gain another well-to-do person thrust into our human-dance.

Each well-to-do person will share his or her Pure Positive Energy with another, for whom they care about.

This wave of Pure Positive Energy will have a long lasting effect on people, animals, places and our mother earth for generations to come.

When Leslie Sharp came meandering into my world a number of years back I was taken aback by her appearance. She looks like wise women out of a mystical novel. Or she could be a gunslinger who in the old west would catch you off guard by her small size and weathered look, then shoot your scalp off your head and blow the smoke from her pistol as you looked on in disbelief. However, don’t even try to attempt to understand her musical skill until you hear how this soul of women can compose music and then dish it out in on fast draw of her piano.

For those of us drawn to jazz there’s something haunting about jazz which haul's you into uncharted dimensions and leaves you there until the song is done. Then it brings you back and slams you into your chair of life and allows you to wake up just in time to clap and be grateful.

This is what I found in the new album called Dancing On The Wide Eyed Edge. What adds to this albums flavor is the trumpet and the way it fits tightly into the arrangements. Leslie’s ability to hit some notes surprises me again and again. Even if I can do without the echo chamber effects in vocals, in this arrangement it works to create a feel that kept me listen from track to track.

If you are drawn to good music and want to help a jazz musician who’s out there in the clubs earning living buy this CD and her two others… I love it.

The Joys And Burdens Of Being Perpendicular

I was rolling from one yoga pose to another, it was time to do a headstand. Once my hands are firmly planted on the floor and beside my ears, I thrust my trunk up and gingerly stabilize my body onto the back of my up turned elbows. With one last burst of energy I propel my pelvis and legs right up into a mind twisting perpendicular position.

The crushing burden of the law known as gravity began arresting every firing neuron in my brain, as my mind attempts to coddle my soul, saying things like " now your head can enjoy a few seconds of what your feet endure 24/7.

At this point I keenly become aware of my 160 pound body and it's impact on mother earth--times seven billion other people who're now registered to be standing on her surface.. This doesn't include mountains, trees, beast and cars, trains and currently flying planes.

By the time I've finished enduring the massive burden of my weight that gravity is pushing down on me like a trash compacter must feel to cardboard boxes being smashed, I've entered into a mindfulness of sympathy for mother earth. I am done with this pose and more aware of my joy of being standing on my own two feet in a fresh and joyful perpendicular position.
So let it be know the joy's and burdens of being perpendicular are subjective.

This movie is about post-marriage equality, about small town minds, it’s got a fabulous twist at the end and plenty of emotional power to keep you fixed to the screen the whole times your watching it.

All throughout the movie you want to bitch slap the lead man, but in the end you just admire him for his shortcomings.

The acting by all is polished and engrossing. I give the film two thumbs up.

There are many who walk, talk and live amongst us who have their wires crossed.

There are billions of these wires running our mind/soul. The mind/soul is in symbiotic relationship. When the mind/soul's wires are crossed over and connected improperly, it caused a sad mind/soul and a reckless attitude toward life in general.

If  you want  to get a life of fabulousness, then you'll have to begin to rewire and establish a relationship with the abundant source buried deep with in you, which is constantly attempting to be heard. However, when you're this deep into depression the mind/soul saddens as well and the whole world looks bleak.

I hear the cry of   people in trouble, but can I help---I sincerely don't know.

The work I do is huge....it is huge because it's between me and my client.

Between the two magnificent earthlings. My clients and I get stuff done which would make peoples head spin.

What I would suggest is everyone who is down in the dumps should due diligence and seek council.

I know between a person who's hurting and their need to get help, someone is here to do just that.

 Now get busy!

I look forward to the day when blood doesn’t have to spill for mankind to celebrate a special day.

Of the 300 million turkeys killed each year 45 million are killed for Thanksgiving and their blood runs into our rivers and oceans. Their burnt bodies might lay upon our tables, but their blood runs back to haunt us in ways, which won’t bare their identities, but will have their carbohydrates, proteins and amino acids. (based on John Killebrew 1976)

People sit amongst one another with some little bird (about 12-22 lbs) sitting midst a table where earthlings bow their heads and give thanks. Ironically death is what most Americans fear to talk about most. Yet see----center stage a dead bird, which you’re about to fork and place onto your palate?

Later as the power source of the bird reaches your blood system and release it’s L-Tryptophan. At this point you’ll lose all your energy and collapse onto recliners and coaches all over this country in an attempt to forget the struggles of your current affairs. Only to later wake and walk down to your oceans and rivers to have a smoke and see your ocean and rivers is all blood red and the beauty, which once was glamorous, is now forlorn.

Vegan Shampoo Review: Aubrey Camomile Luxurious Volumizing Shampoo is by---far-- terrible! I was out of a shampoo and the shampoo I've grown to like was not available at the Sprouts market that night. I was forced to make a new pick. The one I chose that fateful day was this one from the Aubrey line, which said it was Vegan. Late that night after buying said product I went on line and there were some opinions doubting if the product was vegan...hum?

This product left my hair flat every-single-bloody-time. No good day's with this stuff. After having a dozen shampoos experiences and hoping it would get better, so I wouldn't waste my money, I was forced to quite, while I was a flat head of hair.

When I revisited the Sprouts where I brought it from, I talk to the cool lady in charge of this department. She had the same experience I did, BAD.

So do your self a favor and try something better such as my current number one fav Alba Shampoo or the one I just bought which is doing a fine job Desert Essence Organics  both of these shampoos are Vegetarian and do a fine job.

Use products that don't use animals and you'll look even better and feel better

Film Review

Sometimes it’s just so wrong, I have to see it. That what happened watching the film by Aluizio Abranches,  From Beginning to End a movie about two brothers who are madly in love with one another. Albeit, their half brothers (same mom, different dad) I was intrigued from the beginning to the end.

It stirred up with in me the moral question, “how can this be okay between these men”? Well I began to learn just how as I watched this impressive film. The acting was fabulous and the writing was smart.

I found my self fascinated by the sets and colors. Mostly all shades of blue and whites used in all sorts of way’s. From water to wall covers.

The story is fabulous and the men are absolutely beautiful. Who could blame em?

The crazy story gets two thumbs up from me
